Diploma Equivalence & Recognition (Anerkennung)

The level of education from which one can apply in Germany is determined by the high school diploma, ÖSYM placement, and the type of school.

Bachelor’s / High School Equivalence Rules

  • Direct Entry:

Students placed in a 4-year university in Turkey (with some exceptions) can generally apply directly to German universities.

  • Studienkolleg

If applying only with a high school diploma (without ÖSYM placement), a 1-year preparatory college must be attended.

  • Professional Equivalence

Some professions (especially in the health sector) require additional procedures and language levels.

  • Equivalence assessment is done through the ANABIN system.
  • Additional exams may be required in fields like medicine and nursing.

EU Compatibility (Bologna Process)

Germany is part of the Bologna education system, which ensures standardized degree structures and international recognition of diplomas
